What is an Apostille?
An Apostille Stamp is a certification attached to your document that makes it legally official for use in any country that is part of The Hague Convention of 1961, such as France, Spain, Ireland, the UK, Germany, Italy and China. However, an apostille stamp can only be issued from the country a document originated from. In other words, if you want to get married in the UK but were born in Ireland, you will need your birth certificate stamped with an Irish Apostille in Ireland before you can actually use it in the UK. The same goes for the other way around. Any UK birth certificate will need a UK apostille if it is to be used in Ireland. We don’t just offer this service in the UK and Ireland, however. We cooperate with several other organisations so an Apostille can be issued in a wide variety of countries.
